Henderson Update

Henderson Update

So much has happened lately that we decided we needed to send out an update. First of all, our son Henry Ethan was born May 16th at 10:13pm. He weighed 7lb. 12oz. and was 20in long. It was a hard long labor, but God was faithful and gave us the strength we needed every step of the way. We are so excited to have been able to have the natural birth we dreamed of. Everyone that was there for the birth including our midwife and her assistant are believers, and it was so great to be able to encourage each other in Christ as we moved through the birthing process. As for mom and the baby, they are both healthy and recovering quickly. Carolyn is slow in getting used to the new member of the family, but she’s warming up to him and will probably be best friends with him in no time. We have also been blessed to have Jared home from work for a week as we adjust to this change in our family and recover.

We also recently moved to a new apartment. We are in the same complex but our new apartment has a little more room and is on the ground floor. It has been wonderful not to have to carry our children up and down flights of stairs every day. We also have a very nice patio that leads out to a pond that has ducks and geese.

As far as training with New Tribes Mission is concerned, we will not be entering into training this fall as we had hoped. There was not enough room for us, so we have had to postpone our training till January 2009. Instead we will be spending the rest of this year here in Wichita. Surprisingly we are not at all disappointed at this change of plans, but are excited to be able to spend this extra time getting to know our home church, and it will be nice to have our children just a bit older when we start classes. There are also a few smaller bonuses such as being able to spend more time here near Jared’s family, and we will be able to save up more money for training.

There is one more small change. Jared will be switching to first shift (7am-3:30) at Cessna, when he goes back to work after Memorial Day weekend. It will be great to be on a “normal” schedule.

Sincerely,

Jared & Dieneke Henderson

Prayer Requests:

-That there will be no other complications to postpone our training with New Tribes.

-That we will recover from this birth quickly and be able to get back to a daily routine.

Look at the gorgeous flowers Jared bought me!Here's the kids with their Grammy.

Welcome Home Henry

Who is this creature in my house mommy?

New baby boy!!!

Henry Ethan Henderson born 10:13pm, May16th. He was 7lb. 12oz. and 20inch.

It was a long labor. 26 hours, but we pushed through and succeeded in having our first natural birth.

After long hours of labor and trying to get him turned (he was trying to come out face up), it ended in a rush and he came out with just a few pushes, much to our relief!

We came home this morning and are resting. Jared has a week off of work and we are looking forward to getting back to some sort of normal.

Snake in the House

We got home last night and were about to put Carolyn to bed when we discovered a small snake in her room! It wasn't poisonous, and it's only 6-8 inches long, but that didn't make me feel any better about it.Here's Carolyn eating at her new table and chairs.
Jared found out that he will be switching to first shift after Henry is born. It will be wonderful to be on a "normal" schedule.

A hard week

Looking back at this last week, I sigh with relief. We survived. I've been struggling with a bad head cold all week, and Jared and Carolyn are recovering from some milder forms of the same symptoms. I've been doing my best to rest up and recover as quickly as possible as the due date inches closer and closer. Please be in prayer for us. We would really like to be in top condition when our son decides to arrive.
